Kondapalli Seetharamaiah was one of the charismatic leaders of the Naxalite movement in the Telugu states for more than twenty years between 1970 and 1991. Under his leadership, the Peoples’ War captured the imagination of people, boldly challenging authority and taking unusual steps. The state vacillated between repression and conciliation and the PWG used this fully to expand in a vigorous fashion. Peasantry were organised and red flags planted on the lands of landlords who fled to the cities in Telangana. K. Anuradha is currently serving as an Assistant Director in the Horticulture Department of the Andhra Pradesh government. During her student days, she participated in leftist revolutionary politics. For the past thirty years, she has been a human rights activist. She has written articles on agriculture, environment, and feminism. She is the granddaughter of Kondapalli Seetharamayya and Koteswaramma, and the eldest daughter of Karuna and Ramesh.
