Edutaralu, abridged translation of Roots, Alex Haley, translated Sahavasi, The book that changed a nation, said the New York Times. Released in 1976, it was an overnight commercial and critical success, sold more than 6 million copies and was translated into more than 35 languages. The Telugu book Edutaralu, published in November 1980 has also remained one of the best-loved books in Telugu. It started a conversation, which in these still-fractious times, may be as necessary and critical as ever.
